Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has been remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre after being arraigned over alleged cyber-related offences.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the actress was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department before being transferred to Abuja by the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.

Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, told TheCable Lifestyle that Okorie was taken into custody by the cybercrime unit. Filmmaker Ajemba Stanley also confirmed that the actress was charged to court on Wednesday and subsequently remanded.

Reacting via social media, Stanley criticised the process, describing it as an abuse of power.
He alleged that Okorie was arrested late at night, flown to Abuja early the next morning and arraigned within hours, questioning the speed of the proceedings.
Stanley said he would travel to Abuja to pursue her release and called on authorities to allow due process.
He argued that if the issue involved defamation, the matter should be handled through civil litigation rather than criminal action, adding that human rights groups were monitoring the case.

As of the time of filing this report, the police have not released an official statement detailing the specific charges against the actress.
However, industry sources suggested that the case may be connected to Angela Okorie’s long-running public dispute with fellow Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson.
The feud intensified last year after Okorie made controversial remarks about Johnson’s health and accused her of hypocrisy, comments that sparked widespread backlash online.
