EKO HOT BLOG reports that speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Fulham, Carrick said United remain open to possibilities despite uncertainty surrounding potential deals. Former United head coach Ruben Amorim had earlier indicated the club would add reinforcements, but frustration followed United’s decision not to redirect the £65 million earmarked for long term target Antoine Semenyo, who joined Manchester City from Bournemouth.
United have continued to be linked with midfield reinforcements, including former Wolves captain Ruben Neves, now with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. The need for additions has become more pressing following confirmation that left sided utility player Patrick Dorgu will be sidelined for a number of weeks with injury.
Carrick declined to confirm any imminent moves but admitted circumstances could change quickly. He said, “Never say never. A lot can happen and situations can be thrown up. Sometimes it is in our control, sometimes not. I am pretty calm. We have shown what we are capable of as a team.”
Meanwhile, forward Joshua Zirkzee remains the subject of transfer speculation, with Juventus reportedly considering a move for the Dutch striker. Zirkzee joined United for £36.5 million 18 months ago and has recently recovered from a minor injury, making him available for selection against Fulham.
Carrick said, “Josh has just been trying to work to get fit. It was great to have him training with the group the first time and I am just looking forward to working with him.”
Carrick also confirmed that captain Bruno Fernandes’ long term future has been discussed internally but said it would be addressed later in the season.
United have climbed into the top four after wins over Arsenal and Manchester City but Carrick warned against complacency. Fulham, managed by Marco Silva, have lost just once in eight matches and sit one point behind United.

“Marco has made Fulham into a really good team,” Carrick said. “Just because we are at home, taking anything for granted is bang out of order.”\
