Burna Boy leads Nigeria’s charge with two nominations, earning recognition for “Love” in the Best African Music Performance category, while his project No Sign of Weakness is nominated for Best Global Music Album. The nod further reinforces his status as one of Africa’s most consistent Grammy contenders.

Davido also returns to the Grammy spotlight with “With You” featuring Omah Lay, which secured a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category. The song, a lead single from his album 5ive, enjoyed massive success in 2025, recording nearly five million first-week streams on Spotify Nigeria and following a string of international tours and collaborations.
Ayra Starr joins the list of nominees with “Gimme Dat” featuring Wizkid, earning her a place in the same category, while Wizkid continues to extend his Grammy legacy through the collaboration.
Omah Lay completes the Nigerian lineup, marking a significant moment in his rising global profile through his feature on Davido’s “With You,” a performance praised for its emotional depth and wide appeal.

Beyond the competitive categories, the 2026 Grammys will also honour Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti with a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award. The legendary musician will become the first African artist to receive the honour, joining global icons such as Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Cher and Paul Simon at the Special Merit Awards ceremony scheduled for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
