With just 15 days to the 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, excitement is reaching fever pitch as more than 20,000 athletes from Nigeria and across the world have registered for the race, widely regarded as Africa’s most anticipated marathon.
Eko Hot Blogreports that Organisers said registration figures have continued to surge, underscoring the marathon’s growing global appeal and its status as a world-class sporting event.
The increasing interest has also attracted strong corporate backing, with sponsors reaffirming confidence in the race’s ability to deliver a memorable experience for runners and spectators alike.
Ahead of the landmark edition, organisers have announced a historic change to the marathon route. For the first time, the 42-kilometre race will start at ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, pass through sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road, and finish at the iconic Eko Atlantic City.

Scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2026, the marathon is expected to once again turn Lagos into a global running destination, as elite and amateur athletes compete for glory, personal bests and national pride on the streets of Nigeria’s commercial capital.
The event continues to enjoy the backing of major partners, including Access Bank, the Lagos State Government, 7Up, Kia Motors, Power Oil, Brila FM, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Unilever, Eko Atlantic, Aquafina, Salonpas, Joy, Rexona, Easy Tipping, Robb, Greenlife Pharmaceuticals, Morning Fresh, among others.
