Paul Ibe, media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised the state of healthcare in Nigeria following the death of young musician Ifunanya Nwangene.
The Abuja-based soprano, known for her work with the Amemuso Choir, passed away on Saturday at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja, after suffering a snake bite, Eko Hot Blog reports.

On his official X account, Ibe condemned the lack of proper medical facilities, highlighting that the hospital where she was treated did not have snake antivenom. He lamented the tragedy, describing it as a failure of the nation.

Ibe wrote: “Fast-rising singer Ifunanya Nwangene, 26, was not killed by a snake. She was killed by Nigeria, or as is often said, Nigeria happened to her.
To imagine that a public hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, in an area with high snakebite risks, has no antivenom is heartbreaking. Meanwhile, anti-opposition is available in great quantity.”
