EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 137 member council is chaired by the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, while the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, will serve as secretary. The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was named co chairman of the council.
The party said the campaign council is made up of APC governors, principal officers of the National Assembly, and other senior party leaders and government officials drawn from across the country.
In a statement issued by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungu, the APC disclosed that the formal inauguration of the council will take place on Wednesday at the National Working Committee Hall of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
According to the party, the inauguration will officially signal the commencement of a coordinated campaign aimed at strengthening party structures and boosting grassroots mobilisation across the six area councils of the FCT.
Local government elections in the Federal Capital Territory are often seen as a reflection of national political sentiment and a measure of party strength at the grassroots level.
The APC’s decision to deploy top party figures and elected officials to spearhead the campaign indicates its determination to mount a strong challenge and consolidate its presence in the territory.
With campaign activities expected to intensify in the coming days, the party said the council will focus on harmonising campaign strategies, messaging, and mobilisation efforts as the election approaches.
