EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to reports, the assailants, dressed in All Progressives Congress (APC) jerseys and armed with dangerous weapons, targeted several vehicles in Malami’s convoy as he departed a wedding ceremony. Witnesses said the attackers hurled insults and threats at his supporters, though no casualties were immediately recorded.
This latest attack comes barely a month after a similar incident on September 1, 2025, when Malami’s convoy was ambushed by suspected political thugs shortly after he returned from a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque in Birnin Kebbi.
The repeated assaults have sparked renewed concern over the surge of politically motivated violence in Kebbi State. Security analysts warn that such attacks could escalate political tensions ahead of future elections if left unchecked.
Following the earlier incident, the Department of State Services (DSS) invited Malami for questioning in Birnin Kebbi. In a Facebook post, the former minister confirmed he honoured the DSS invitation and expressed satisfaction with how the security agency conducted the investigation.
Malami, however, alleged that opposition political figures in Kebbi were behind the petitions that led to his interrogation. He maintained that he had always been law-abiding and would continue to cooperate with security agencies to ensure peace in the state.
