Over 1,000 shops were affected, and seven traders were reported missing in the aftermath.
In videos posted on X by his spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President was seen moving through the charred stalls with a federal delegation, examining the scale of destruction.
Crowds of traders and residents gathered at the site, cheering and calling out as he met with victims and assessed the situation firsthand.

The visit followed a directive from Bola Tinubu, who asked Shettima to head a Federal Government team to express solidarity with those affected.
A statement from the State House indicated that the delegation would also announce financial support to assist victims and help the Kano State Government expedite the reopening of the market.
The latest incident is the second significant fire outbreak at the market within a fortnight. Emergency teams, including the National Emergency Management Agency, the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, and the Federal Fire Service, worked to bring the flames under control.
Officials suggested that a possible solar battery explosion may have triggered the blaze.
