A mother and her son had a narrow escape on Wednesday morning after their Lexus SUV somersaulted multiple times along the busy LASU-Isheri Expressway in Lagos.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the accident occurred near the NYSC bus stop and was confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), which described it as a serious lone crash.
According to officials, the Lexus Jeep with registration number KJA 39 JT was travelling from Isheri towards Igando when the driver suddenly lost control. The vehicle reportedly flipped three times before coming to a stop in the middle of early morning traffic.
Despite the severity of the crash, the mother and her son were rescued alive from the badly damaged vehicle. They sustained visible bruises and minor injuries.
LASTMA officers who were nearby quickly coordinated rescue efforts, helping to secure the scene and prevent further danger to other road users. Officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Igando Division were also present to manage the crowd and maintain order during the operation.

Family members later arrived at the scene and took the victims for proper medical attention.
To restore normal traffic flow, LASTMA officials worked alongside the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) to remove the wrecked vehicle from the road. The vehicle was subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.
Reacting to the incident, LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki expressed relief that no lives were lost. He wished the victims a speedy recovery and urged motorists to avoid overspeeding and ensure their vehicles are properly maintained, particularly critical components such as brakes.
He noted that excessive speed combined with mechanical faults remains a major cause of serious accidents on major expressways across Lagos.
