In his reckless attempt to avoid inspection and potential arrest, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to a violent collision with another vehicle traveling on the road.
FRSC Sector Commander for Nasarawa State, Yahaya Sabo-Adiku, confirmed the tragedy, providing details during an interview in Keffi Local Government Area.
He stated that the incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. “An accident occurred along the Keffi–Akwanga road… in which six people lost their lives and three others were injured,” Sabo-Adiku said.

He explained that the catastrophe was fundamentally caused by the driver’s refusal to cooperate with law enforcement officers on duty. “In the process of trying to avoid arrest, he crashed into another vehicle,” the Sector Commander added.
Following the accident, local witnesses reported heightened tension in the area, with some community members alleging that the crash was a result of a direct chase by FRSC officers.
However, the Sector Commander’s account focused on the driver’s decision to speed away from the inspection point.
Sabo-Adiku utilized the opportunity to advise motorists across the state to view FRSC officials as partners in road safety rather than adversaries, emphasizing that compliance with inspections is vital for reducing accidents and ensuring the safety of all commuters on Nigerian roads.
The injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited in a morgue.
