The Federal Government has inaugurated a Ministerial Monitoring, Evaluation and Implementation Committee to oversee the 2026 Special High Impact Projects under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for Engineering and Technology Faculties in selected universities across the six geopolitical zones, Eko Hot Blog reports
Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister of State for Education, Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad, said the committee was constituted to ensure effective implementation, strict compliance with standards and accountability in the execution of the intervention projects.

He noted that TETFund has continued to play a vital role in strengthening Nigeria’s tertiary education system through sustained investment in infrastructure, research and academic development. According to him, the High Impact Intervention is aimed at upgrading laboratories, workshops and research facilities, positioning institutions as centres of innovation and practical problem-solving.
The 2026 Special High Impact Projects will cover 18 universities across the country.
In the North-Central zone, beneficiaries include the University of Abuja in the FCT, the Federal University of Technology, Minna in Niger State and the African Aviation University in the FCT.
For the North-East, selected institutions are Modibbo Adama University, Yola in Adamawa State, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi State and Nigeria Army University Biu in Borno State.

In the North-West, the projects will be implemented at Federal University, Birnin Kebbi in Kebbi State, Federal University of Technology, Babura in Jigawa State and Shehu Shagari University of Education in Sokoto State.
The South-East beneficiaries are Abia State University in Abia State, Federal University of Technology, Owerri in Imo State and Enugu State University of Medical and Applied Sciences in Enugu State.
In the South-South, the projects will be sited at Rivers State University in Rivers State, Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi in Akwa Ibom State and Delta State University, Abraka in Delta State.
For the South-West zone, the benefiting institutions are Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State, Federal University of Technology, Akure in Ondo State and University of Ilesha in Osun State.
The minister emphasised that while funding is critical, impact depends on effective monitoring, transparency and timely delivery. He said the committee’s mandate includes tracking project execution, ensuring adherence to approved specifications and timelines, evaluating outcomes and providing objective reports to guide policy decisions.
He urged vice-chancellors, consultants and contractors to cooperate fully with the committee, stressing that monitoring and evaluation are essential to achieving excellence and delivering value for money.
The minister charged members of the committee to carry out their responsibilities with integrity and diligence, adding that the intervention must translate into measurable improvements in engineering and technology education nationwide.
