- U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has declared that Iran’s top leadership has been decimated, claiming the governing council and senior generals are either dead or in hiding just days into “Operation Epic Fury.”
- Military officials report that the Iranian Air Force and Navy have been effectively destroyed, with U.S. and Israeli forces expected to achieve total air superiority over Iranian territory within days.
- As the campaign shifts to “stand-in” precision strikes deeper inland, Washington is facing scrutiny over a Saturday strike on a girls’ school that reportedly left over 160 civilians dead.
In a briefing that signaled a catastrophic turn for the Islamic Republic, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced on Wednesday that the Iranian military and political hierarchy has effectively collapsed.
Eko Hot Blog reports that standing alongside Air Force General Dan Caine, Hegseth asserted that the leadership vacuum in Tehran is total, claiming that those tasked with selecting a successor to the late Supreme Leader are “dead, missing, or cowering in bunkers.”

The Secretary’s rhetoric painted a picture of a nation whose command-and-control capabilities have been severed, leaving mid-level officers and enlisted ranks unable to coordinate any sustained defensive effort.
The devastation described by the Pentagon extends to the core of Iran’s defense infrastructure. According to Hegseth, the Iranian Air Force has been wiped out, and the Navy now “rests at the bottom of the Persian Gulf.”
General Caine added technical weight to these claims, noting that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has already shifted tactics.
By the fourth day of the war, American forces have moved from using long-range standoff munitions to “stand-in” precision strikes directly over Iranian skies.
This shift indicates that the U.S. and Israel no longer fear Iranian anti-aircraft capabilities and are preparing to expand operations progressively deeper into the Iranian heartland.
General Caine further disclosed that the primary focus of current sorties is the systematic dismantling of Iran’s ballistic missile infrastructure.
The objective is to ensure that Tehran cannot rapidly rebuild its combat capability or pose a continuing threat to U.S. troops and regional partners.
Hegseth justified the intensity of the escalation by accusing Tehran of negotiating in “bad faith” during recent diplomatic channels, alleging that the Iranian government was secretly scheming for further attacks while publicly engaging in talks.

However, the rapid military successes are being shadowed by reports of significant civilian casualties.
When questioned about a devastating strike on an Iranian girls’ school on Saturday, which local reports say killed more than 160 people, Hegseth stated that the incident is currently “under investigation.”
Despite the mounting humanitarian concerns, the U.S. administration shows no sign of decelerating.
Hegseth warned that Washington and Tel Aviv are “just getting started,” promising the deployment of an “unlimited stockpile of precision gravity bombs” as the campaign moves into its next phase.
