According to reports by PUNCH Online, Masari, a trusted ally of the President, originally joined the administration in 2023 as Senior Special Assistant for political affairs.

The Katsina-born politician previously held the position of welfare secretary for the All Progressives Congress during Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s tenure as national chairman.
In the presidential hierarchy, the role of Special Adviser is more senior than that of Senior Special Assistant, with broader responsibilities and closer access to the President.

Masari has been influential in Tinubu’s political network, particularly in shaping party activities in Nigeria’s North-West region.
As with other presidential aides, Masari’s appointment does not require Senate confirmation and is at the discretion of the President.
