- President Donald Trump has stated that the U.S. is not currently considering sending ground troops into Iran, calling such a move a “waste of time” because the Iranian military has already “lost everything.”
- The President dismissed warnings from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi regarding a potential disaster for invaders, noting that Iran’s naval and defense capabilities have been decimated over the first six days of conflict.
- Trump reiterated his desire for a total overhaul of the Iranian leadership, stating a preference for a rapid transition rather than a decade-long rebuilding process under the current regime’s influence.
As the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran enters its sixth day, President Donald Trump has made it clear that a large-scale ground invasion is not part of the current strategy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a telephone interview on Thursday, March 5, 2026, Trump argued that the effectiveness of the ongoing air and sea strikes has rendered a ground force unnecessary.

“They’ve lost their navy. They’ve lost everything they can lose,” the President asserted, suggesting that the technological and aerial superiority displayed by the U.S. and Israel has already achieved the primary military objectives.
The President’s comments were a direct rebuttal to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who had earlier warned that any attempt at a ground invasion would spell disaster for the attacking forces.
Trump characterized the Foreign Minister’s statement as a “wasted comment,” maintaining that the Iranian regime is in no position to dictate terms or pose a significant threat to a coalition that has already neutralized much of its “regime infrastructure.”
Despite the lack of appetite for a ground war, Trump’s rhetoric regarding the future of Iran remains aggressive.
He expressed a firm intention to “clean out everything” quickly to ensure that no remnants of the current leadership can orchestrate a long-term recovery.

This follows his earlier controversial statement that he would need to be directly involved in the selection of Iran’s next leader following the reported death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
While Trump mentioned he has specific individuals in mind for a new leadership structure, he has thus far declined to provide names.
The intensity of the conflict shows no signs of waning on the ground.
Heavy attacks were reported across Tehran on Friday morning as Israel announced it was entering a “new phase” of the war.
These strikes are reportedly targeting the core pillars of the Iranian state, aiming to dismantle the remaining command and control centers.
As the bombardment continues, the international community remains on high alert, watching to see if Trump’s “clean out” strategy will lead to a swift political transition or further regional instability.
