The Anglican faith, global orthodox leaders have officially announced a definitive split from the Archbishop of Canterbury and the UK-based “Instruments of Communion.”

The gathering, which hosted 347 bishops and 121 lay and clerical leaders, resulted in the formation of the Global Anglican Communion as a separate confessional body.
The council, now chaired by Archbishop Laurent Mbanda, declared that the See of Canterbury has failed to maintain biblical discipline and can no longer serve as the spiritual anchor for the global faith.
“The moral and spiritual authority of the Seat of Augustine has been severely compromised,” the resolution stated, accusing the English leadership of normalizing teachings that contradict Holy Scripture.
As part of this radical restructuring, member provinces, largely representing churches across Africa, Asia, and South America, are now strictly prohibited from participating in traditional pillars of the denomination, such as the Lambeth Conference and the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC).
Furthermore, these provinces have been directed to cease all financial contributions to the ACC and are encouraged to amend their local constitutions to remove any mention of being “in communion with the See of Canterbury.”
Despite the sharp departure, the council insisted that they are not a “breakaway” group but are instead “reordering” the historic Anglican Communion from within to preserve its original biblical foundations.

The Church of Nigeria, a major force in the global Anglican world led by Archbishop Henry Ndukuba, has already formally severed its ties.
This administrative shift replaces the “Gafcon Primates Council” with the Global Anglican Council, which will now act as the primary authority for authenticating new provinces and guarding theological integrity worldwide.
