- Phrank Shaibu, aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has slammed President Tinubu’s spokesperson, Daniel Bwala, describing his recent appearance on Al Jazeera’s Head to Head as a “woeful” outing.
- The opposition camp alleges that Bwala struggled to reconcile his current defense of the administration with past scathing criticisms of President Tinubu made during his time in the Atiku camp.
- Further allegations surfaced claiming Bwala once asked Atiku’s media team to falsely report that Tinubu’s associates were threatening his life.
The political rivalry between the camps of Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu flared up on Saturday, March 7, 2026, following a heated international media appearance by Daniel Bwala.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Bwala, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy Communication, faced a rigorous grilling by journalist Mehdi Hasan on Al Jazeera.

The interview reportedly focused on Bwala’s dramatic shift in political loyalty and the current government’s handling of Nigeria’s persistent security crises.
Reacting to the broadcast, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, issued a stinging statement in Abuja.
He argued that Bwala’s performance exposed a “moral bankruptcy,” particularly regarding his dismissal of the scale of insecurity in the country.
Shaibu claimed that watching the spokesperson struggle with “inconvenient facts” and his own past statements was an embarrassment to the nation on a global stage.
The Atiku camp went a step further, making a startling revelation about Bwala’s conduct before his defection to the ruling party.

Shaibu alleged that Bwala had previously pressured Atiku’s media team to publish a “fictitious” statement claiming his life was under threat by Tinubu’s associates to gain public sympathy.
According to Shaibu, the team refused to participate in the “fabrication,” which he now cites as evidence of Bwala’s “shifting loyalties.”
Despite the heavy criticism and viral clips of the intense interview, Daniel Bwala remains defiant.
He took to social media to state that he has “no regrets” about his performance, insisting that defending the President and the administration’s policies is his primary official responsibility.
Bwala maintained that he would continue to represent the government on any international platform, regardless of the backlash from former political allies.
