President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, calling on them to remain committed to national unity and service to humanity.
In a message released on Thursday through his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, Eko Hot Blog reports ythe President encouraged Muslims to uphold the values learned during the holy month, including devotion, compassion, and generosity.

Tinubu noted that the lessons of the fasting period, such as self-discipline, kindness, and perseverance, are especially important in the current national climate.
He urged the faithful to continue demonstrating empathy and to support those in need, regardless of religious background, as a way of strengthening unity and social harmony.
He also called on Muslim leaders to use the festive period to pray for peace, stability, and progress in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who also serves as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, officially announced Friday as the day for the Eid celebration.

He congratulated Muslims on completing the Ramadan fast and encouraged continued prayers for the country’s unity and development.
Earlier, the Federal Government had declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, who also conveyed the government’s goodwill to Muslims on the successful conclusion of Ramadan.
