- Delta State Police Command has apprehended the lead organizer of a local event in Ozoro, Chief Omorede Sunday, along with four other suspects following a series of violent sexual assaults.

- Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, has officially transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for immediate prosecution.
The Delta State Police Command has moved to dismantle the organizers of what residents describe as a “r*ping festival” in Ozoro Kingdom.

The investigation was launched after several videos surfaced on Thursday, capturing mobs of men accosting and assaulting women during the community’s traditional celebrations.
CP Aina Adesola condemned the incidents as a “reprehensible violation of human dignity,” vowing that the police will not tolerate such criminal acts under the guise of tradition.
According to local reports, the festival had created a climate of terror for women and girls in the Isoko North area.
Traditionally, females are warned to stay indoors during specific hours of the event to avoid being targeted.
Witnesses and rescue workers expressed particular concern for female students of the Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro, and visitors who might be unaware of the dangers associated with the celebration.
To ensure a thorough legal process, the case has been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The police have deployed specialized tactical units to identify every individual visible in the assault footage.

The Command is urging victims and eyewitnesses to come forward, promising that all reports will be handled with “strict confidentiality and professional care.”
CP Adesola has also called for calm in the Ozoro community, assuring the public that the Command is fully committed to safeguarding the rights of all citizens and maintaining public order.
