Operatives of Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) reportedly carried out a raid on Monday at the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, removing occupants in an operation witnesses described as well-coordinated.
The incident took place at Malami’s home in Maitama not long after a visit from former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who had earlier held a private meeting at the residence, Eko Hot Blog gathered.

According to reports, Atiku remained at the property for about an hour before leaving. Witnesses said DSS operatives had already positioned themselves around the area during the visit but only advanced into the premises shortly after his departure.

One source noted that the operatives moved in almost immediately once the former vice-president exited.
As of the time the report was filed, authorities had not publicly explained the reason behind the operation.
The development has added to rising political tension, with some observers linking it to claims that the administration of Bola Tinubu is increasing pressure on opposition figures ahead of upcoming elections.
Malami, who has recently faced corruption allegations, is seen by critics as being under political scrutiny.

Some argue that the legal cases against him are part of a wider effort to silence opposition voices and possibly push defections toward the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Presidency, however, has rejected these accusations, insisting that investigations and prosecutions involving former public officials are guided solely by the rule of law and not political considerations.
Earlier in the day, Atiku had posted photos from his visit to Malami on social media but did not mention the subsequent DSS operation.
