The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced that former Nasir El-Rufai will be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Kaduna today, Tuesday, over alleged corruption-related offences.

Similarly, the Muslim Rights Concern condemned the prolonged detention, while members of El-Rufai’s family urged that he be brought before a competent court.

According to a statement released Monday by ICPC Head of Media and Public Communications John Odey, El-Rufai and one Joel Adoga will face charges in suit number FHC/KD/73/2026 at the Kaduna Federal High Court.
The charges include conversion and possession of public property and money laundering.
“ICPC is set to arraign the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i, and one Joel Adoga at the Federal High Court, Kaduna Judicial Division on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The case includes charges ranging from conversion and possession of public property to money laundering,” the statement said.
The commission also revealed that a separate case, KDH/KAD/ICPC/01/26, has been filed at the Kaduna State High Court against El-Rufai and one Amadu Sule (LEDA). Charges in the state case include abuse of office, fraud, intent to commit fraud, and conferring undue advantage.
The ICPC noted that the arraignment date for the state case will be announced in due course.
ICPC emphasized that El-Rufai has been properly served and reaffirmed its commitment to due process and the rule of law.
Reports indicate that he was initially detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after responding to an invitation on February 16, granted bail on February 18, and subsequently taken into ICPC custody, where he has remained amid calls for formal arraignment.
