Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has issued a final warning to the state’s workforce, threatening a mass sack for civil servants who fail to be at their desks by 10:00 am.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor gave this ultimatum following a surprise, unannounced visit to the State Secretariat in Awka on Wednesday, where he discovered a significant number of offices deserted during official working hours.

Visibly infuriated by the lack of discipline, Soludo was captured in a viral video shared by the Anambra State New Media team navigating through rows of empty chairs.
He questioned the few officials present about the whereabouts of their colleagues, making it clear that his administration would no longer subsidize laxity and the resulting productivity drain within the civil service.
“By 10 a.m., if they are not in their seats, we don’t need them!” the governor declared, sparking panic across various government departments as he moved from office to office.
This crackdown on workplace discipline is part of a broader onslaught the governor is leading to revitalize the state’s economy and security.

Beyond the secretariat, Soludo has taken a hardline stance against the illegal Monday “sit-at-home” orders that have plagued the Southeast.
He recently labeled the continued closure of businesses on Mondays as “calculated economic sabotage” intended to destroy commercial hubs like Onitsha and Nnewi.
To enforce compliance, the governor has even taken the drastic measure of temporarily shutting down major markets to break the cycle of fear imposed by secessionist elements and their supporters.
Addressing residents on Thursday, March 26, 2026, Soludo reassured the public that his administration is winning the war against forces of lawlessness.
He insisted that Anambra remains one of the safest states in Nigeria despite the challenges, vowing that the government will take back the state at whatever cost.
The governor’s double-edged approach, enforcing strict discipline in the civil service while aggressively tackling regional security threats signals a new phase of governance aimed at total state reclamation, ensuring that both public servants and private businesses contribute to a stable and prosperous economy
