The event forms part of a broader lineup of religious activities across Lagos State to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the gathering, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the state’s Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro, commended religious leaders for organising the session. He noted that the President deeply values such support, describing the prayers as a reflection of goodwill toward his leadership.
According to him, the birthday activities began on Friday with prayers in mosques and will conclude with church services on Sunday.
On behalf of the President, the governor also thanked Lagos residents for their continued support and expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its current challenges. He urged citizens to remain politically engaged, especially as the country looks ahead to future elections.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards and participate actively in the democratic process, stressing the importance of sustained mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also touched on ongoing discussions around state policing, noting that proposals have been submitted to the National Assembly. He called for patience and trust in the administration’s long-term plans, emphasising that meaningful development takes time.

In his remarks, the governor’s Special Adviser on Religious Matters (Islamic), Jebe Abdullahi, described the prayer session as a recognition of Tinubu’s contributions to society and his role in mentoring others.
He added that similar prayer gatherings were being held simultaneously across Lagos divisions, including Ikorodu, Badagry, Lagos Island, Ikeja, and Epe, as part of a coordinated effort to seek divine support for the President.
Also speaking, the mosque’s chairman, Afis Gbolahan Toriola, said the initiative was not only to honour the President but also to pray for the nation’s peace and progress.
He explained that the session extended prayers to other key officials, including Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, as well as other government functionaries.
According to him, the goal was to seek wisdom and guidance for leaders at all levels, with the hope that their decisions will promote development and improve the lives of citizens.
