Security personnel discovered that he was in possession of 15 pandrol clips—metal fasteners used to hold rail tracks firmly in place. The items were believed to have been removed from the narrow gauge corridor around Alagomeji.
According to officials, the removal of such components poses serious safety risks, including the possibility of train derailment and danger to passengers.
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Railway Police Command for further investigation. He has since been arraigned before a Lagos court and remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, with the case adjourned until April 24, 2026.

Reacting to the development, NRC Managing Director, Kayode Opeifa, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance stance on vandalism. He praised the vigilance of the security team and assured that offenders would be prosecuted.
He also warned members of the public against interfering with railway facilities, stressing that such actions endanger lives and disrupt critical national infrastructure.
The Corporation urged residents to stay alert and report suspicious activities around railway corridors, reaffirming its commitment to safe and reliable rail services nationwide.
