The Odogbawojo community in Eredo LCDA, Epe Division, came alive in a vibrant display of culture, unity, and tradition as residents and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the Odo Gbawojo Day and Kilajolu 2026 festival in grand style under the leadership of Oba Adelani Adeniyi.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the colourful event attracted a wide array of guests including monarchs, political leaders, community stakeholders, youths, and residents from Odogbawojo, Eredo, and across Epe Division, all united in celebration of their rich cultural heritage and shared identity.

In his address, the revered monarch explained that the essence of the celebration goes beyond festivity, emphasizing the need to preserve cultural values and pass them on to future generations.
“This celebration is about showcasing our heritage, culture, and tradition.
The more we promote these traditions today, the more the younger generation will understand their importance and uphold them,” he said.
He further highlighted the spiritual significance of the Kilajolu festival, describing it as a vital aspect of the community’s annual cleansing rites.
“This is also part of our yearly spiritual exercise, where we offer prayers for the peace, fruitfulness, and prosperity of our land.
It is a tradition that binds us together and strengthens our unity,” the monarch added.
Also speaking, Hon. Samsideen Adeniyi, a key member of the planning committee and leader of the Gbawojo Foundation, shed light on a major developmental initiative unveiled during the celebration, the proposed Vocational and ICT Training Centre.
“This project is designed to equip our youths with practical skills and technological knowledge that will make them self-reliant and relevant in today’s fast-evolving world,” he explained.
“We believe that empowering our young people is the surest way to secure the future of our community.”
The initiative received strong commendation from Rep. Wale Raji, who lauded the foresight behind the project and pledged his full support.
“This is a forward-thinking initiative that aligns with the realities of our time. I will take it upon myself to ensure that this project is captured and supported as part of my 2026 constituency projects,” he assured.
Hon. Segun Olulade, popularly known as Eleniyan, also expressed his admiration for the project and the unity within the community.
He made a financial contribution in support of the initiative and reiterated his commitment to grassroots development.
“I am impressed by the vision behind this project. Empowering youths is key to sustainable development, and I will continue to support initiatives like this,” he said.
He added that his support also extends on behalf of Anomo Wale Raji Akogun, further demonstrating collective backing for the project.
In the same vein, a representative of Hon. Ogunkelu Sylvester Oluwadahunsi (Sketel) congratulated the people of Odogbawojo for organizing a successful and impactful celebration.
“We commend the people of this great community for sustaining their cultural heritage and organizing such a remarkable event. Unity remains key to achieving greater progress,” the representative stated.
The event featured rich cultural displays, traditional rites, music, and communal interactions, all of which showcased the uniqueness of Odogbawojo’s heritage.
It also provided a platform for dialogue on development, youth empowerment, and community growth.
