Former Kano State governor and senator, Ibrahim Shekarau, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing a shift in political direction.
Eko Hot Blog reports that his decision was contained in a letter dated April 19, 2026, addressed to the party chairman of Giginyu Ward in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State. In the letter, Shekarau stated that his resignation takes immediate effect.
