EKO HOT BLOG reports that the President has also elevated Taiwo Oyedele from Minister of State for Finance to substantive Minister of Finance.
Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, previously served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he played a key role in overhauling Nigeria’s tax system.
The 50 year old economist, accountant and public policy expert brings decades of experience from both the private and public sectors.
He began his academic journey at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in accountancy and finance. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University.
Oyedele also completed executive education programmes at London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
He spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader, where he led major tax advisory and policy initiatives across the continent.
Beyond his professional career, Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and serves as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
He was earlier appointed Minister of State for Finance in March before his elevation to the top finance position.
His appointment is expected to play a significant role in shaping Nigeria’s fiscal direction, particularly in tax reforms and economic policy implementation.
