EKO HOT BLOG reports that Aiyedatiwa said candidates for the forthcoming elections would be selected based on merit, loyalty and winnability, stressing that the party remains committed to a transparent process.
He noted that political activities in the state have intensified, adding that the process would begin with the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms, followed by screening and appeals where necessary.
“It is not a do or die affair. If you are not chosen, do not rock the boat. Remain in the party. One day, an opportunity will come,” he said.
“We will use merit, loyalty and winnability to pick APC candidates at the forthcoming primary of our party.”
The governor added that the party could adopt either direct primaries or a consensus arrangement, depending on what stakeholders agree.
He urged aspirants to remain calm and respect party decisions, emphasising that unity and discipline are critical to the party’s success.
Also speaking, the APC State Chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, reaffirmed the supremacy of the party and described the governor as its leader in the state.

Kolawole said the State Working Committee remains fully aligned with Aiyedatiwa and called on aspirants to accept the outcome of the primaries with maturity.
He also reiterated the party’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
