Troops of the Nigerian Army have destroyed a camp linked to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network, during a military operation in Imo State.
The raid, carried out on Thursday in the Ubaha Orsu area of Orsu Local Government Area, was part of a broader clearance mission targeting suspected militant hideouts in the region, Eko Hot Blog reports.

According to the army, troops from the 82 Division advanced on the location based on intelligence reports but encountered resistance from armed fighters.

The soldiers, however, repelled the attack after a gun battle, forcing the assailants to retreat.
Following the operation, security personnel combed the area and uncovered shallow graves believed to contain the remains of two soldiers who were abducted and killed in 2022.
The victims were identified as Master Warrant Officer Linus Musa Audu and Private Gloria Mathew, who were reportedly attacked while travelling for their traditional wedding.
The military said the recovered remains have been secured and will undergo forensic examination, including DNA testing, to confirm their identities.

It added that steps are being taken to engage with the families of the deceased in preparation for proper burial arrangements once identification is completed.
The army described the discovery as further evidence of violent activities linked to the group, noting that the operation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks in the South-East.
Authorities also reassured residents that security operations will continue across the region to curb armed groups and restore stability, while urging the public to provide useful information to support ongoing efforts.
