- Leaders and stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State are pressuring factional National Chairman Nafiu Bala to drop his lawsuit against the leadership of David Mark.
- Reports indicate that stakeholders have reached out to Bala’s parents, including his mother, to persuade him to end the legal challenge.
- Gombe State ADC Chairman Keftin Amuga noted that the legal tussle is causing embarrassment to the party and the local community.
- Despite the pressure, Bala’s camp has officially denied any intention to withdraw, describing the reports as a malicious attempt to discredit his quest for justice.
The internal leadership crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a local turn in Gombe State, as prominent figures move to resolve the legal battle through traditional and familial channels.
Sources suggest that the urgency to settle the dispute has been fueled by recent defections within the party, including Kogi State lawmaker Leke Abejide’s move to the APC.

While Gombe ADC Chairman Keftin Amuga confirmed that family members have intervened and that Bala had initially agreed to withdraw the suit, the factional leader has yet to take formal action in court.
In a swift rebuttal, Nafiu Bala’s Chief of Staff, Bala Kumo, issued a statement on Saturday dismissing claims of a planned reconciliation or withdrawal.
Kumo insisted that Bala remains firmly committed to the case currently pending before the Federal High Court and characterized the rumors of a withdrawal as “fabricated”.
He further clarified that there are no credible threats to Bala’s life and that the legal pursuit will continue to its logical conclusion.

The legal dispute reached a critical juncture last Thursday when the Supreme Court set aside an order that had previously removed David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from their positions as National Chairman and Secretary.
However, the apex court returned the substantive matter to the Federal High Court for a final decision.
With the core issues of party control still unresolved, stakeholders fear that continued litigation could significantly hamper the ADC’s stability heading into the next election cycle.
