The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a severe crisis after the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, formally alleged that his signature was forged on an official letter.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the letter, dated August 29, was sent to the National Electoral Commission (INEC) to notify the body of the party’s upcoming National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Anyanwu, an ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, has escalated the matter by sending petitions to INEC, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Inspector General of Police.

In his petition, titled “Petition Against Forgery and Cloning of My Signature,” he stated, “the quoted letter was never signed, authorised, or known to me. It is shocking to have a forged or cloned version of my signature on the letter.” He demanded an investigation and prosecution for this “criminal conduct.”
This forgery claim intensifies the existing tension fueled by discontent among Wike’s allies over the leadership of acting National Chairman Umar Damagum. The internal wrangling has also led to legal action, with a lawsuit filed by party chairmen and a Zonal Secretary accusing the Damagum-led National Working Committee of breaching the party’s constitution.

The legal battle recently saw a Federal High Court hearing adjourned as two Senior Advocates of Nigeria, Kamaldeen Ajibade and Chief Chris Uche, both claimed to represent the PDP, forcing the judge to demand proof of authorisation.
Anyanwu’s allegations, coupled with the ongoing legal disputes, have significantly deepened the uncertainty and fear that the party’s leadership transition could be derailed.
