No fewer than 11 persons lost their lives on Sunday night in a devastating road accident at Eruku Bridge along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway in Ogun State.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the fatal crash involved a gold Toyota vehicle with registration number GGE722KJ.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, Afolabi Odunsi, disclosed that all the victims comprising 10 men and one woman died in the accident.
According to the FRSC, preliminary investigations revealed that the crash was caused by drunk driving and overloading. The vehicle reportedly lost control, somersaulted and plunged off the bridge.
Odunsi explained that the impact trapped the occupants inside the vehicle after the doors became locked, making rescue efforts difficult.

He added that local residents joined emergency responders in dismantling parts of the vehicle to recover the bodies of the victims.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Ogun State Specialist Hospital morgue in Ifo.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists travelling along the Abeokuta-Lagos corridor to drive carefully and avoid dangerous habits, especially at night.
He also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragic accident.
