The late monarch, who reportedly died in his sleep after a brief illness at Banghok University Hospital, had remained actively involved in community affairs until the very end, a development many residents say captures the depth of his dedication to the Odomola Kingdom.

Just days before his death, Oba Adebowale was seen at the popular Kilajolu Ebi Festival in Odomola, where he joined indigenes, chiefs, youths, and guests in celebrating the community’s cultural heritage.
Witnesses at the event recalled that the monarch appeared energetic, cheerful, and deeply engaged throughout the celebration.
He was said to have interacted warmly with residents and traditional leaders while encouraging the preservation of the kingdom’s customs and values.
The festival, which featured cultural displays and performances by renowned fuji musician Sule Malaika, has now taken on deeper emotional significance for many members of the community who never imagined it would become one of the king’s final major public outings.

A resident who attended the event said the monarch showed no visible signs of illness.
“He was happy, lively, and full of smiles during the festival. Nobody expected that would be one of the last times the community would see him publicly,” the resident said.
Sources close to the palace also revealed that Oba Adebowale had remained committed to palace activities shortly before his passing.
He reportedly presided over a meeting with members of the Odomola Council of Chiefs where discussions focused on preparations for the upcoming Ileya festivities and other developmental matters affecting the community.
Community leaders have since described the late monarch as a ruler who maintained close ties with his people despite his relatively short reign on the throne.
Since ascending the throne in May 2023 after receiving his instrument of office from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the monarch was widely recognised for promoting peace, unity, and cultural identity within Odomola Kingdom.
Several residents noted that his reign brought renewed attention to community development, youth engagement, and the strengthening of traditional institutions in the area.

“He carried the responsibility of leadership with humility. Kabiyesi believed strongly in togetherness and always encouraged peace among families and community groups,” a palace chief stated.
The atmosphere within Odomola has remained solemn since news of the monarch’s death broke, with sympathisers and dignitaries continuing to visit the palace to commiserate with the royal family and traditional council.
Traditional rites are expected to begin in accordance with the customs of the kingdom, while palace authorities are yet to officially announce burial arrangements.
For many residents, however, memories of the monarch’s final days, particularly his joyful participation at the Kilajolu Ebi Festival, will remain a lasting symbol of a king remembered for his closeness to his people and unwavering commitment to preserving the heritage of Odomola Kingdom.
