EKO HOT BLOG reports that Police sources disclosed that the suspect allegedly lured the teenager under the guise of attending an academic coaching class before taking her to an uncompleted building where she was held.
According to investigators, Baiyegun later demanded ransom from the victim’s family and allegedly received ₦500,000 from her father.
The suspect reportedly confessed that he spent most of the money on online sports betting.
In a statement to investigators, Baiyegun denied having a romantic relationship with the deceased, insisting they were only close while she attended his former school where he taught Physics and Further Mathematics.
He claimed they reconnected earlier this year after meeting in the community and later exchanged contact details again.
The suspect further alleged that he introduced Florence to a friend identified as Sola, who was interested in dating her.
Baiyegun admitted taking the victim to an unfinished building and negotiating a ₦3 million ransom with her father using the teenager’s phone.
He also confessed to giving the girl sleeping tablets after she complained of fear and discomfort while staying in the building.
According to him, he later discovered that the victim was in distress and attempted to move her from the location while pretending she was sick.
“I lied to him that his daughter would be released as soon as the ransom was paid. I spent almost all the money on online sports betting, and I regret it now,” he reportedly told investigators.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest, describing it as a major breakthrough by the Anti Kidnapping Unit.
He added that investigations were ongoing.
