Police authorities also disclosed that officers involved in the operation rejected a ₦500 million bribe allegedly offered by the suspect in a desperate attempt to stop the raid.
The operation was carried out by a joint team of officers from the Zone 2 Police Command and the Special Protection Unit (SPU) following directives from the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu.
During the raid, police recovered hundreds of bags containing suspected Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis believed to be worth billions of naira.
According to reports, the operation followed months of surveillance and intelligence gathering by the police.
Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Jimoh, said the suspect had been under close monitoring before he was eventually arrested on May 19.
He revealed that during the operation, the suspect allegedly attempted to compromise officers by offering the SPU commander ₦500 million to allow him contact his associates and move the drugs out of the building.
The offer was reportedly rejected immediately, while the bribery attempt was officially documented as part of the investigation.
AIG Jimoh said the operation highlighted the importance of collaboration between specialised police units and conventional divisions under the policing reforms introduced by the IGP.
According to him, the SPU worked alongside divisional officers to secure the area and prevent suspects from escaping or tampering with evidence.

Reacting to the operation, IGP Disu praised the officers for their professionalism and integrity, saying the success of the raid validates the ongoing strategy of deploying more personnel to grassroots policing units across Lagos and Ogun states.
“The professionalism shown by the SPU commander in rejecting a ₦500 million bribe and following due procedure is the standard we expect. It shows that when you put your best foot forward at the grassroots, you get results and restore public trust,” the IGP said.
Police authorities confirmed that all exhibits recovered during the raid have been documented and would be presented in court as investigations continue to uncover other members of the drug network.
