President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described Alhaji Ashafa Ajibola Erogbogbo, father of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, as one who remains “sharp of mind and warm of spirit” even at the age of 100.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Tinubu stated this in a personally signed congratulatory message to the elder statesman on the occasion of his centenary birthday celebrated on May 28, 2026.

The President described reaching the age of 100 as a rare blessing and a reward for a lifetime of discipline, dedication, integrity and selfless service to humanity and the nation.

He commended Alhaji Erogbogbo for his years of meritorious service at the Government Printing Press, the Nigeria Customs and Excise, and later at Shell Company Nigeria Limited, where he served as District Manager for the Benin Region with responsibility for Sapele and Warri before retiring as Aviation Superintendent at the Lagos Airport.
According to Tinubu, the centenarian demonstrated professionalism, diligence and commitment to excellence in all the places he worked.
The President also acknowledged his role as a respected community leader and mentor in Ikorodu, Lagos State, noting that his wisdom, counsel and exemplary lifestyle continue to inspire younger generations.
“I join your family in giving glory to God for your century-long journey and your contributions to national development,” Tinubu said.

The President further rejoiced with the family, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the celebrant, while expressing delight over the publication of his life story titled “Echoes of Grace: The Journey of a Century,” released to commemorate the milestone.
Tinubu prayed for continued good health, peace, strength and happiness for the elder statesman.
