The Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives has called on the administration of President Bola Tinubu to secure the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from Oyo State within 72 hours.
The demand was made on Wednesday in Abuja by the House Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, during a press conference.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Agbedi urged the federal government to deploy a special military operation to rescue the victims without delay, insisting that mass abductions must no longer go unanswered.
He criticised what he described as a pattern in which terrorists dictate terms to the state, accusing the government of issuing statements instead of delivering concrete results.
The lawmaker also called for an immediate overhaul of Nigeria’s national security architecture, stressing that urgent reforms were needed to address rising insecurity across the country.
Agbedi further faulted the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State in 2025, describing it as politically motivated and targeted at opponents.
He urged the federal government to prioritise effective security funding, improve the welfare of frontline security personnel and avoid what he termed the politicisation of national security appointments.
Meanwhile, the caucus also accused the Tinubu administration of shifting focus away from governance and concentrating on preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Agbedi said the government was presiding over worsening insecurity, economic hardship and alleged attempts to weaken democratic opposition through the judiciary, while neglecting urgent national concerns.

He alleged that both the Presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were more focused on political calculations ahead of 2027 than addressing the country’s immediate challenges.
The Minority Leader therefore called on the federal government to suspend all activities linked to the 2027 elections and instead implement a six-month National Security and Economic Recovery Plan aimed at addressing insecurity and economic pressures across the country.
