The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is investigating the delivery of a parcel containing two rounds of live ammunition to the residence of the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, disclosed this during a routine press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, describing the incident as a serious security matter requiring a thorough investigation.
The development comes despite earlier reports in which a source within the bank reportedly dismissed claims of the incident.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to the police commissioner, the FirstBank chief alerted security agencies after a parcel received on his behalf by a gateman was opened and found to contain two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
Fatai said detectives immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the report and have since been working to establish the source of the package and the motive behind its delivery.
“The managing director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf,” the police commissioner said.
“The case is still under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves.”
He said investigators were examining multiple possibilities, including whether the parcel was intended as a threat or connected to any criminal activity.
According to Fatai, detectives are pursuing several leads and analysing information provided by the complainant as part of efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The commissioner added that the bank executive had identified certain individuals who may possess information useful to the investigation.
“Detectives are working to determine the origin of the parcel, identify those responsible and establish whether the incident was intended as a threat or linked to any criminal activity,” he said.
Fatai disclosed that no arrests had been made so far.
He, however, assured that forensic and intelligence-driven investigations were ongoing to identify those behind the delivery and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.

“Right now, forensic and intelligence-driven investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the delivery and bring anyone found culpable to justice,” he added.
