Former Jigawa State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party founding member, Sule Lamido, has called on members of the party to base their campaigns for the 2027 general elections on national issues rather than personal criticism of political opponents.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Lamido said Nigeria’s current challenges require constructive political engagement focused on solutions that can promote unity and national development.

He made the appeal on Saturday while receiving PDP governorship candidates from Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Yobe states at his residence in Bamaina, located in Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

According to the elder statesman, political campaigns should revolve around ideas, policies and programmes capable of improving the lives of Nigerians instead of attacking individuals.
He stressed that every political party and candidate should clearly explain what they intend to offer the country if elected, noting that Nigerians deserve practical solutions to the nation’s problems.
Lamido identified insecurity, the economy, education and corruption as some of the major issues that should dominate campaign discussions ahead of the next elections.

He expressed confidence that a government elected on the strength of credible ideas and people centred policies would be better positioned to address the country’s challenges.
Speaking during the visit, the PDP governorship candidate in Gombe State and former Minister of Communications, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, praised Lamido for his leadership, honesty and commitment to defending the interests of ordinary Nigerians.
Pantami said the delegation visited the former governor to seek his advice, experience and support as they prepare for the political activities leading to the 2027 elections.
He described Lamido as a leader who consistently speaks the truth regardless of the status or influence of those involved and said Nigeria needs more leaders with such qualities.
