The presentation, held at the Council Secretariat on Monday, according to the council, was aimed at supporting market stakeholders, enhancing operational efficiency and equipping critical departments with the necessary resources to effectively discharge their responsibilities.
Presenting the Toyota Hiace bus to the Market Men and Women Association, Dr. Anomo said the intervention was designed to ease the movement of market leaders and support their activities across communities within Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
He noted that the welfare of traders remains an important component of his administration’s grassroots development agenda, stressing that a vibrant market sector is essential to the economic growth of the council area.
To ensure the sustainability of the intervention, the Chairman also approved a monthly maintenance stipend for the vehicle.
Speaking on behalf of the market women, the Iyaloja-General of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Chief Mrs. Tawa Adeaga, expressed appreciation to the Chairman for his continued support for traders and market leadership across the LCDA.
She described the donation as another demonstration of the administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of market stakeholders and strengthening economic activities at the grassroots.
In a separate presentation, Dr. Anomo handed over a mini bus to the Revenue Department of the Council to enhance its field operations and support revenue mobilisation across the LCDA.
The vehicle was formally presented to the Area Revenue Officer by the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Hassan Mustapha, on behalf of the Executive Chairman.
Dr. Anomo charged officers of the Revenue Department to make judicious use of the vehicle, noting that it was provided to improve their mobility, strengthen field operations and enhance efficiency in revenue collection.
He said a more effective revenue system would provide the Council with greater capacity to sustain infrastructure development, social services and other programmes targeted at improving the wellbeing of residents.
The Chairman stressed that his administration would continue to invest in initiatives that strengthen institutions, empower communities and improve the productivity of government personnel.
According to him, supporting the informal sector while strengthening the Council’s revenue base would create a stronger foundation for sustainable development across Ikosi-Ejinrin.
The presentation was witnessed by members of the Executive Council, Legislative Arm, Management Team, market leaders, revenue officers and other members of staff.
The interventions further highlight the administration’s approach to grassroots governance, combining support for local economic actors with institutional strengthening to improve the delivery of services to residents across Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
