Goods worth millions of naira have been destroyed after fire broke out at the Gbagi Market in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Eko Hot Blog reports the fire occurred at 348 ZI/E Milo Zone, Bola Ige International Market, Gbagi, around noon on Monday.

Two lock-up shops were reportedly engulfed by the flames, destroying goods stored inside the affected shops.
However, the quick intervention of firefighters prevented the inferno from spreading to other shops and nearby properties.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, said no casualty was recorded.
Akinwande said firefighters immediately commenced operations after arriving at the scene and successfully contained the blaze.
He said, “On arrival, it was discovered that two out of a row of nine lock-up shops were engulfed in flames.

“The fire crew immediately commenced firefighting operations, preventing the fire from spreading to the nearby shops and properties.”
The chairman said an investigation had commenced to determine the cause of the fire.
“No casualty was recorded. The post-fire investigation is ongoing to determine the root cause of the fire incident,” he added.
The incident has left traders counting their losses, with the value of goods destroyed in the affected shops estimated to run into millions of naira.
