Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has disclosed that he has yet to decide which presidential candidate he will support in the 2027 general elections, while ruling out any possibility of backing the All Progressives Congress.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Davido made the declaration during an interview with News Central TV on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, while speaking about his political involvement ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The singer was asked whether he would continue to play an active role in politics and whether his position would align with that of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has publicly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Davido, however, stressed that his political decisions are personal and separate from those of his uncle.
“My uncle, immediately he won, came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but for me, I’m not propelled to support anybody. I personally haven’t seen anybody,” he said.
The singer explained that he had supported different political candidates and parties at various points in the past, noting that his political choices have not always followed a single party or candidate.
According to him, he previously supported former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during his time in the Peoples Democratic Party.
“In the past, yes, I’ve supported Atiku before when we were in PDP,” Davido said.
He also recalled his involvement in the political activities surrounding the formation of the APC ahead of the 2015 general elections.
Davido noted that his late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, was associated with the APC and that he campaigned for the party at the time.
“I supported in 2015 when APC first did the merger; my late uncle Isiaka Adeleke (Serubawon) was part of the APC, I campaigned then,” he added.
Despite his previous support for the party, Davido made it clear that his position has changed ahead of the 2027 election.
The singer said he currently has no preferred presidential candidate but indicated that his eventual decision would not be in favour of the APC.
“Right now I don’t have a presidential candidate. It might change, but it’s not going to be APC. Everybody should have their choice,” he stated.
Davido’s comments come against the backdrop of increased political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections and his growing involvement in political conversations, particularly in Osun State.
The singer was notably active during the Osun State election cycle, where he mobilised voters and spoke publicly about the need for credible elections and transparent vote counting.

His position also contrasts with that of Governor Ademola Adeleke, who has backed President Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
The Osun governor has explained that his decision to support Tinubu is influenced by his belief that the President, as a Yoruba man from the South-West, should be supported to consolidate his administration’s reforms and infrastructure projects in the region.
However, Davido’s latest remarks suggest that he intends to maintain an independent political position as the 2027 election approaches.
The singer did not name any alternative candidate he may support, leaving open the possibility that his position could change as political campaigns and alliances develop.
