The Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Executive Chairman, Akogun Wale Anomo, has concluded a three-day onboarding retreat for members of the 6th Executive Cabinet, aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and preparing political office holders for effective governance.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the retreat, held from Thursday, August 20, to Saturday, August 22, 2026, marked the first of its kind in the council and was organised in line with the administration’s THRIVES Agenda, particularly its focus on Infrastructure and Institutional Excellence.
The three-day programme exposed cabinet members to key aspects of local government administration, including procurement procedures, budgeting, due process and the Lagos State Local Government Administrative Guidelines.
The sessions were designed to deepen participants’ understanding of administrative processes, while promoting accountability, compliance, efficiency and responsible management of public resources.
A major highlight of the retreat was the unveiling of the THRIVES Administrative Blueprint by the Executive Chairman.
Presenting the blueprint, Anomo outlined the vision, priorities and strategic direction of his administration, explaining that the framework would guide policies, programmes, budgeting, implementation and long-term planning in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
“The THRIVES Agenda is not merely an administrative slogan. It is a development framework designed to guide our policies, programmes, budgeting, implementation and long-term planning for Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA,” Anomo said.
The THRIVES Agenda represents Tourism, Technology and Digitalisation; Healthcare and Human Capital Development; Rural Transformation, Revenue Growth and Agricultural Development; Infrastructure and Institutional Excellence; Value Creation, Youth and Women Empowerment; Education, Environmental Sustainability and Economic Growth; and Security, Social Welfare and Sustainable Communities.
The chairman explained that the blueprint also provides a foundation for sustainable development beyond the present administration.
Participants were also taken through their strategic responsibilities as political office holders, with emphasis on purposeful leadership, collaboration, accountability and the need to deliver measurable results within their respective portfolios.
Beyond governance and administrative sessions, the retreat featured health and wellness activities, including a health talk and medical screening for participants.
The council said the health component was introduced to underscore the importance of the wellbeing of public officials as they undertake the demanding responsibilities of governance.
The retreat also provided an opportunity for members of the 6th Executive Cabinet to strengthen their working relationships, gain a clearer understanding of their collective responsibilities and align their activities with the administration’s development agenda.
Anomo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building strong institutions and developing a competent workforce capable of delivering quality services to residents.
“We are committed to building not only physical infrastructure but also a competent, informed and institutionally strengthened government capable of delivering sustainable value to the people of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA,” he said.
The council said the successful completion of the retreat represents an important step towards improving administrative effectiveness and ensuring that members of the 6th Executive Cabinet are adequately equipped to contribute to the development of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
