The first two quarter final fixtures of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have been confirmed following the conclusion of Round of 16 matches played over the weekend in Morocco.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Friday, January 9, will usher in the last eight stage with a heavyweight West African clash as Senegal take on Mali by 5 pm local time.
Senegal sealed their place in the quarter finals after bouncing back from an early scare to defeat Sudan 3 1, displaying composure and attacking depth when it mattered most.
Mali, on the other hand, booked their quarter final ticket via penalties after holding Tunisia to a 1 1 draw through regulation time and extra time.
Later that evening, hosts Morocco will face Cameroon in Rabat by 8 pm local time. Morocco continued their steady campaign with a slim 1 0 victory over Tanzania, while Cameroon edged South Africa 2 1 in a tense encounter.
Cameroon’s win came after Junior Tchamadeu opened scoring in the 34th minute before Christian Kofane doubled the advantage shortly after the break.
South Africa pulled one back late through Evidence Makgopa in the 88th minute, setting up a nervy finish, but the five time champions held firm to progress.
With the result, Cameroon joined Morocco, Senegal and Mali in the quarter final stage of the tournament.
Attention now shifts to the remaining Round of 16 fixtures scheduled for Monday, as Egypt face Benin Republic, while Nigeria’s Super Eagles battle Mozambique by 8 pm in a bid to complete the quarter final line up.
