He also raised the prospect of action involving Mexico, despite describing the country as a United States ally, alleging that it is controlled by drug cartels.
“Something’s going to have to be done with Mexico,” Trump said.

The President later escalated his rhetoric during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, directing pointed remarks at Colombia and its leadership. Trump warned President Petro to exercise caution, accusing him of links to cocaine production.
“I stick by my first statement. He’s making cocaine,” Trump said of Petro. “They’re sending it into the United States, so he does have to watch his a$$.”
Petro, aged 65, is Colombia’s first left wing president in the country’s modern political history and has often clashed with Washington over security and drug policy approaches.
Also speaking at the event, United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, blamed Cuba for playing a significant role in Venezuela’s prolonged crisis. Rubio alleged that Havana exerted deep political and security influence over Caracas.
“This poor island took over Venezuela in some cases,” Rubio said. “One of the biggest problems Venezuelans have is they have to declare independence from Cuba. They basically tried to colonise it from a security standpoint.”
