Former Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has congratulated Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the development as well-deserved.

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a press statement issued on Thursday, April 30, 2026, Ambode praised Hamzat’s longstanding commitment to the party, noting that his emergence reflects years of loyalty, dedication, and service.
“Your deliberate and purposeful consultations with the party hierarchy and members have demonstrated that you are a true party man committed to the ideals and values of unity and progress,” Ambode stated.
He added that Hamzat’s adoption as the consensus candidate is a testament to his hard work and contributions to the APC over the past two decades.
“I am confident that Lagos State will benefit immensely from your wealth of experience and skills in governance,” he said.

The former governor also used the opportunity to reaffirm his unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing the importance of continuity at the federal level.
“I restate my unshakeable commitment to support the re-election of our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
I strongly believe that the greater prosperity of Lagos and Nigeria is firmly tied to his continued leadership,” he noted.
Ambode expressed optimism that the President’s vision for the country would translate into sustained growth and development.
“I am confident that Mr. President’s aspirations for our nation will yield bountiful returns and place Nigeria firmly on the path of prosperity,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Ambode called on members of the APC in Lagos and the South-West to mobilize support for the party at all levels.
“As Lagos APC, our mission should be to deliver at least three million votes for Mr. President and ensure victory across the State and Federal elections. We must also work to return all our party’s Senators and Representatives to the National Assembly,” he urged.
Ambode concluded on a hopeful note, expressing faith in the future of Lagos State and Nigeria.
“By the grace of Almighty God, the best days of Lagos and Nigeria are still ahead of us,” he said.
