The Lagos State House of Assembly has removed its Clerk, Olalekan Onafeko, with immediate effect following a resolution reached during plenary.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the decision, adopted through a voice vote by lawmakers, was presided over by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, who explained that the move was in line with procedural guidelines governing tenure in the Assembly.

Obasa clarified that Onafeko’s removal was not disciplinary but a routine administrative step, as his tenure had come to an end.
Onafeko, who assumed office in January 2022, was commended by the Speaker for his role in strengthening legislative coordination and supporting key institutional developments during his time in office.
Following his exit, the Assembly announced the appointment of Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk, with immediate effect. The Speaker expressed confidence in her ability to enhance legislative efficiency and administrative processes.

In a related development, lawmakers confirmed Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission, citing her experience and track record in public service.
The Assembly also approved the appointment of Remi Bello as a member of the Commission, urging him to contribute to ongoing institutional reforms.
Lawmakers called on the newly appointed officials to uphold professionalism, transparency, and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities.
