APC Petitions Police, DSS Over Alleged Impersonation by Suspended Member
Party says Hunye falsely presented himself as Ogun governorship candidate.
APC asks authorities to investigate, arrest and prosecute Hunye over allegations.

The ruling All Progressives Congress has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, seeking the immediate investigation, arrest and prosecution of suspended party member Abayomi Hunye.

In the petition dated August 24, 2026, and signed by the party’s Director of Administration, Ayoola Olajolo, the APC accused Hunye, a former governorship aspirant, of unlawfully presenting himself to the public as the party’s governorship candidate for the January 2027 election in Ogun State.

The party alleged that Hunye made the claims through the public domain, including print and social media platforms.

According to the APC, Hunye’s claim was false and fraudulent, describing it as a deliberate act of impersonation intended to mislead the public and threaten peace in Ogun State.

The party said Hunye was suspended from the APC on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward, Tube Ward, in Ipokia Local Government Area.

The suspension was ratified by the Ogun State Working Committee and subsequently communicated to the party’s National Headquarters.

The APC said Hunye was suspended over alleged anti party activities, nefarious dealings considered injurious to the image of the party and deliberate actions allegedly aimed at creating disaffection among its members.

The party further stated that it conducted a valid governorship primary election in Ogun State.

It identified Solomon Adeola as its recognised governorship candidate and Kudirat Balogun as the deputy governorship candidate for the January 2027 election.

The APC therefore urged the police and DSS to invite Hunye for immediate questioning over the alleged offences and possible violations of Nigerian laws.

The party also called on the police to prosecute Hunye after investigation over the alleged impersonation, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and alleged violation of the Electoral Act, 2026.
