Eko Hot Blog reports that a former commissioner in Osun State has stirred the political waters by openly questioning former governor Rauf Aregbesola’s membership status in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

The immediate past Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Adebayo Adeleke, made the bombshell allegation during a senatorial meeting of the party in Osogbo.

In a circulating video clip from the event, Adeleke boldly asserted that serious APC members in Osun are aware that Aregbesola, who served as governor from 2010 to 2018, is currently not a party member.

“They said in our party in Osun, we have two former governors, we have Chief Bisi Akande and ex-governor, Adegboyega Oyetola,” Adeleke declared, conspicuously omitting Aregbesola’s name.

The controversial claim has reignited the long-standing crisis between Aregbesola and his successor, Oyetola, who lost the 2022 governorship election to Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Before the polls, the two APC heavyweights had soured relations, with Aregbesola openly backing a different gubernatorial candidate, Moshood Adeoti, who previously served as Secretary to the State Government under Aregbesola’s administration.

While Adeleke’s allegation has sent shockwaves through Osun’s political landscape, Aregbesola’s camp has remained tight-lipped so far. Efforts to reach the former minister’s media adviser, Mr. Sola Fasure, for a reaction were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
