Describing her as more than a broadcaster, ARISE News noted that Maduagwu was “a lawyer, a professional, and a supportive colleague who was also a friend to many.” The station added: “Somtochukwu was not only a cherished member of the ARISE family but also a vibrant voice that engaged our viewers with passion and clarity. Her voice is now silent, but her legacy remains with us.”
The management extended condolences to her parents, siblings, extended family, and friends, calling for a swift police investigation and prosecution of those behind the crime.

Confirming the development, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said an investigation had been launched. Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh stressed that while no arrests had yet been made, detectives were actively working to track the suspects.
Maduagwu, who anchored, reported, and produced news for the channel, joined ARISE with a reputation for brilliance and dedication. Her sudden death, the organisation said, remains a devastating loss not only to her colleagues but also to Nigeria’s journalism community.
