EKO HOT BLOG reports that Okai, a prominent socio political commentator, told Daily Post that his defection was long overdue, citing what he called a “protracted leadership crisis” affecting the PDP at both the national and state levels. “I have resigned my membership of the PDP. I am now a member of the ADC,” he stated.
Before leaving, Okai was one of the PDP’s most visible media representatives, frequently appearing on television, in print, and across social media to defend the party’s positions.
His defection followed a major mobilisation drive by the ADC in Kogi West over the weekend, where the party formally unveiled its structure in the senatorial district. The event attracted supporters and political observers and was led by former senator and PDP figure Dino Melaye, who described the ADC as “the only viable alternative” for Nigerians seeking meaningful change.
During the unveiling, Melaye criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress, accusing it of worsening the nation’s economic situation. “There is massive hunger and starvation across Nigeria. The APC has failed the people and is out of touch with the everyday realities of Nigerians,” he said.

He urged dissatisfied politicians and voters to embrace the ADC, insisting the party would restore dignity, accountability, and purpose to governance.
